Summary ThepurposeofthisstudywastoassessifstudentsatanalternativehighschoolinPortland,Oregonwould evaluateindividualplanningmeetingsashavingmoreimpactwhenthemeetingsaretailoredto=itthestu dentsindividualplanningneeds.Studentswereaskedto=illoutsurveysthatassessedtheirsatisfaction withtheirmostrecentindividualizedstudentplanningsessionwiththeirschoolcounselor.Then,thestu dentbodywassurveyedtodetermineareasoffocusstudentswishtoaddressinindividualstudentplan ningmeetings.Theresultsfromthisneedsassessmentwasusedtoprovidealltheschoolcounselorswith twoquestionstoaskstudentsduringindividualstudentplanningsessionsinhopesofraisingtheeffective nessofthesessions.Studentswereagainpolledtodetermineiftheirsatisfactionwiththeirindividualstu dentplanningsessionshadchanged.

Inthisresearch,therewasnosigni=icantchangebetweenthesessions beforetheschoolwideneedsassessmentandaftertheneedsassessmentresultswerebeingusedinses sions.However,theschoolwideneedsassessmentprovidedthecounselingdepartmentwithdatatoim plementandexamineotherinterventions. Considerresearchingandimplementingstructureforbalancingcontentofcoun selingsessions. Comparestudentreportedneedstonewstudentreferralstodetermineifstu dentsawarenessofwhytheywereplacedattheschoolisinlinewithadministratorsand teachersmakingreferrals.
