Kaycee Hallett High School English 11-12 LESSON PLAN: Digital Storytelling Lesson Objective: 1.

Introduce students to different online sites that will allow them to create digital childrens stories. Standards: W. 11-12.6: Students will be learning to use the internet to produce and publish their original stories.
Use technology, including the Internet, to produce, publish, and update individual or shared writing products in response to ongoing feedback, including new arguments or information.

Time 1- 45 (some 1-55) minute class period Materials/Prep Smart Board Access to the internet 3 different websites that will allow for digital storytelling www.storybird.com it supplies a variety of illustrations, students supply the text http://www.creazaeducation.com/frontpage students can create their own comics/graphic novels http://www.kerpoof.com/ students can create a childrens book in a book format http://www.epubbud.com/ it will allow for the publishing of stories as an e-book See if you can set up the students accounts ahead of time

Beginning of Lesson Before the class begins have the Smart Board setup with the four different websites open to examples of the work that you created. Have a few pictures set aside in a specifically named folder to use when going over ePub Bud. 5 minutes max. 1. Wandering attention spans. Try to keep the lesson moving along and show them different things so that youre not sticking on the same page or the same topic too long. Plan B: Take less time on the examples and add more time to the creation features actually going through and creating a small story on each site with them.
