NARRATIVE REPORT: ON THE JOB TRAINING AT HOTEL LA CORONA

An on the job training is an inevitable requirement of being a college student. It goes hand in hand with the clich that a person can never tell how a certain thing feels like without experiencing it first. As a student whose chosen field is one of hospitality, a career gaining worldwide recognition, I have come to know that this profession is never easy as what others thought it to be. This realization hit me as I was trained at Hotel La Corona in Lipa City, Batangas starting from April 15, 2013. For more than five weeks as an on the job trainee at Hotel La Corona, I was able to fully explore the different facets of the Hotel and Restaurant Management field. I was first assigned at the Food and Beverage section as an assistant cum waitress for a week. My task for this section is to make sure that the customers or guests orders are delivered to them efficiently. Honestly, I found this task really difficult. It is difficult in a way that you have to go upwards and then downwards with such a fast pace so as not to delay guests orders. The next section that Ive been assigned with was at the Housekeeping section. Out of my 5-week on the job training, I spent three weeks at the Housekeeping section. In this section, I do the beddings, that is, removing, changing, fixing them and making sure that the guests will feel at ease and will be comfortable. I also clean the comfort and rest rooms.
