Starting situation: Previous lessons (recap) Students have had introduction on the subject of criminals and criminal activity Students have been exposed to topic related vocabulary Students have had listening experience on the subject (video clips of criminal activity), and have been looking at materials on criminals and criminal activity on the computer.

Personal learning objectives: The teacher can speak English at all times, adapt speaking to the level of the students if necessary. Teacher can explain the assignment and gives feedback during the assignment. Teacher can make sure of good working atmosphere in class. Teacher is able to encourage students to actively participate in class discussions. features they think a criminal might have. Teacher will introduce todays lesson: making a WANTED poster of a criminal. Students will make the poster in groups of three/four. Middle Teacher explains assignment: go to the internet and find 10 faces of criminals from the thirties (1930 s) till now and print them out. Teacher asks students to find information about the criminal (colour of eyes, height, hair, glasses etc) but also info on the crime they committed. Teacher instructs students to put the criminal that they think is most notorious on a WANTED poster, Teacher tells students to move to art room (which is next to computer room) and start working on their poster, using the recycled materials that are available. End (evaluation, summary, planning for next lesson) Teacher to ask feedback of class with respect to this assignment. What did students think of it. What did the students learn today? Which poster do they like best? Why What happens if a criminal is caught? Next lesson we will watch a movie about a boy who gets involved in crime from a very early age. Students to find information on 10 notorious criminals from the 30s till now. Students to choose one criminal for WANTED poster. Students to make a Poster format WANTED poster of their criminal, giving a close description of the criminal according to the features they found on the internet and the crime he is supposed to have committed. Students use materials available in art room Students put poster up in class. Students will move to computer classroom and make groups

Students give feedback to teacher about making the poster. Students chose a poster that they like best and tell class why.

Teacher activity Teacher explains assignment for the lesson: to specifically look at the main character Des, and to write down what they think is most important the scenes of the movie they have just seen. Teacher to give an example Teacher hands out worksheet on which students can write down their findings of what they have seen . The end of the movie will be shown later.

Student Activity Students write down their personal feelings on the main character: - what is Des family life like? - wat kind of person is Des? - how did Des become involved in criminal activity - why did Des become violent?
