Budget Reflection

The impact of student enrollment for both district and your individual school is a tremendously part of all functions in your school and district. First, student enrollment determines over 50% of the District State Revenue. This impacts how many teachers you may have to support your district and schools. Second, your actual student enrollment really depends on the four week period in October that ends on the last Friday of that month. The accountability is your daily enrollment and not just your body count for this time period.

As for all staff in a school, the more students can mean more teachers in your school. On the other hand, with a projected low enrollment, you may lose teachers, funding for programs and support staff in general. A good example at the elementary level can even change what your teachers are teaching. If there is and even amount of staffing for each grade level and an average of the same amount of students, your school is fine. But if there is a projected influx or students the following year in a certain grade level, one or more teachers maybe moved to a different grade level to accommodate your teacher/student ratio. Also, teachers maybe released and moved to a different school if you dont have the numbers of students to fill your staff.
