2013-2018 Vision Statement: Mountain View College empowers people to improve their lives and communities through exemplary education. The college is committed to building a diverse and inclusive learning community that promotes students success, good stewardship, employee achievement, and positive global impact.

Goal 1. Meet the Educational Needs of Southwest Dallas County: Goal 1 Objectives: 1.1 Increase participation in higher education in the MVC service area. 1.1.1 Provide opportunities for students to participate in extra and co-curricular programs and services that support accomplishment of their learning, educational, employment, and career goals. 1.1.2 Collaborate with and support primary through 12th grade service area schools and other higher education institutions to provide programs that increase the number of students who matriculate to the college level. 1.2 Increase workforce readiness to enhance the economy and competitive advantage of the MVC service area. 1.2.1 Collaborate with local business and industry, and with public and community partners, to identify and respond to recruitment needs, strengthen and expand workforce development initiatives and training, and increase the employability of service area constituents. 1.3 Strive to reflect the diversity of the MVC service area in the credit and non-credit student body.

Goal 2. Empower Students to Meet Academic Success Milestones: Goal 2 Objectives: 2.1 Improve the success of first-time-in-college students. 2.2 Improve student achievement of college-level skills. 2.3 Improve the rate of student course success and retention. 2.4 Increase the number of students completing core curriculum, associate degrees, and certificates. 2.5 Increase participation in and quality of student services, instructional resources, instructional support, and co-curricular activities. 2.6 Prepare students to successfully transfer to baccalaureate degree-granting institutions. 2.7 Increase the number of developmental writing students who graduate with an associate degree through implementation of The Pen is Our Power Quality Enhancement Plan.

Goal 3. Demonstrate Leadership in National and State Student Success Agendas: Goal 3 Objectives: 3.1 Use the Texas Completes state collaborative to create model pathways for improving student certificate and degree completion. 3.2 Increase the level of student engagement and satisfaction. 3.3 Gather, understand, communicate, and use data to strengthen student success through Student Success by the Numbers initiatives.

Goal 4. Empower Employees for Institutional Success: Goal 4 Objectives: 4.1 Improve employee engagement and effectiveness through professional development and other opportunities that contribute to their ability to serve students, colleagues and the community. 4.2 Recruit, hire and retain highly qualified employees who reflect the diversity of MVCs students and community.

Goal 5. Achieve Organizational Effectiveness: Goal 5 Objectives: 5.1 Demonstrate institutional commitment to serve the community through sound and transparent fiscal policies and practices. 5.2 Improve efficient and effective use of resources with emphasis on process improvements, technology and support of MVC facilities. 5.3 Promote practices supporting sustainability including social, environmental and economic development. 5.4 Provide quality, timely, efficient, customer-oriented services.
