ABSTRACT: Aged seed lots with different vigour levels were invigourated with hydration and dehydration, PEG 6000 –1.0 MPa and NaH2PO4 to evaluate crop performance during rabi 2003-04. Among vigour levels highest field emergence was observed in high vigour seeds (90.75 %) and significant improvement in field emergence was observed due to invigouration treatment (88.05 %) over control (81.55 %). But there was no significant difference in plant height for invigouration treatments after 60 DAT. Six days early curd maturity was noticed in high vigour when compared to medium (3 days) and low vigour seeds. Invigouration with PEG 6000 –1.0 MPa resulted in early curd maturity of five days followed by NaH2PO4 (1 %) (4 days) and hydration- dehydration (3 days early). High vigour (91 %) has significantly increased the curd yield (30.10 t/ ha) as compared to medium (84 %) (29.15 t/ha) and low vigour (72%) (24.63 t/ha) seeds.
