Standard 1

A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community. 1-1 Facilitate the development of a shared vision for the achievement of all students based upon data from multiple measures of student learning and relevant qualitative indicators. 1-2 Communicate and implement the shared vision so the entire school community understands and acts on the mission of the school as a standards-based educational system. 1-3 Leverage and marshal sufficient resources to implement and attain the vision for all students and subgroups of students. 1-4 Identify and address any barriers to accomplishing the vision. 1-5 Shape school programs, plans, and activities to ensure integration, articulation, and consistency with the vision. 1-6 Use the influence of diversity to improve teaching and learning.

Participated in planning an off-campus back to school retreat for the staff Interviewed principal to see where resources are Breakdown down student scores to look for trends and to identify strengths and weaknesses. Also to plan and identify areas that need improvement and present a plan to the faculty.

Experiences from my Leadership Project that meet this standard:

Presenting the idea that 2012-2013 will be a fundraising year for our school Met with my principal first to get thoughts and address concerns I also needed her permission/support before presenting it to the teachers. Motivate teachers in a vision of collaboration in order to discover ways to initiate teacher fundraising. Wrote a personal educational vision

Other Additional Field Experience activities that meet this standard: (If you need additional experiences)

Analyzed the last 6 years of CST scores for the 2nd-5th grade students of Watts Learning Center. The gender subgroups I was interested in. What I found was that there is a significant drop in the boys reading scores from 4th to 5th grade. Presented CST score data to the Principal and later to the staff. Collaborated with the teachers to provide support to the students in 5th grade but especially the boys based on analyzed data. Designed a reading program for our 5th grade male students, using male college students/volunteers to come once a week to spend time reading and working on comprehension strategies.
