vebsites for Students of Cerman

Canoo: www.canoo.net
1his is a very useful "word catalogue". You can enter here a word in uny form (e.g., a
con|ugated verb or a declinated substantive ) and it tells you what is the main form
so that you can look it up in any normal dictionary. lt also works inversely: you can get
all the declinated or con|ugated forms of a word by typing the infinitive or the
general form.
2. Pons: www.pons.eu
Very useful multilanguage dictionary. Especially helpful when you start learning.
3. Deutsche WeIIe: www.dw.de
A news and language portal. Here you will find a section with special material for
language students such as "langsam gesprochene Nachrichten" (slow spoken news),
podcasts,
4. Linguee: www.linguee.de
1his is a "bilingual corpus". lt has a big amount of texts in both languages (English
and Cerman, there are more combinations, but not with Cerman) where you can see
the correlate in the other language for a expression in yours. Especially useful for
fixed expressions and word combinations like "apply for a |ob" "sich fr eine Stelle
bewerben", or "it's raining cats and dogs" "Bindfden regnen"
S. DWD5: www.dwds.de
A very complete and rich Cerman-Cerman dictionary. lt includes synonyms,
etymology, and a one-language corpus. lt is more helpful for advanced students, but
it is still nice to start getting used to using this tool.
6. Lang-8: www.lang-8.de
A Language-social network: the goal of the website is to get people correct other's
texts. You should correct texts of people who learn your language so that you can
get your Cerman texts corrected by a native. 1exts should not be longer than a
paragraph or so.
7. More dictionaries:
1. www.duden.de (Cerman-Cerman)
2. www.dict.cc (Multilanguage)
3. www.wordreference.com (Cerman-English)
4. dict.leo.org (Multilanguage)
