What amount of water in the nose of the rocket will be the most efficient?

Hypothesis: If the nose cone of the rocket has 200 ml of water in it then the rocket will
go farther because then the nose rocket will continue to be on the top and the body of
the rocket will continue to stay on the bottom and be balanced.

Rocket Flight Depends on the Amount of Water in the Nose

Controlled Variables: pop bottles, wing material,

angle of shot, amount of water in the body, size of
wings.

Materials Needed: two liter bottle, 20 ounce pop

bottle, cardboard, measuring cup, water, scissors,
duct tape,

Procedure: For our control we used a 2 liter bottle

for the body and put 400 mL in it. then we used a
20 oz. bottle for the nose and filled it to 100 mL. We
placed three cardboard wings in the center of the
body. Those wings are 10 x 5 cm and evenly
spaced. they are also covered in a layer of
duct tape.

For the amount of water in the nose of the

rocket we kept everything the same but we
also filled the nose with 200 mL and 300mL

Conclusion: Our hypothesis was not correct

because we said that if the nose cone had
200mL in it then it would be best but in our
experiment we found that 100mL was best

because it had an average of 86.66 while the 200mL had less at 80 and 300mL even
less at 75.

IF we did this experiment again we would make sure that we had enough duct tape on
the wings so that they will not get wet. Something that could have affected the flight of
the rocket could be the weather conditions because the wind was not the same
everytime that we launched which could make our results vary.
