Lesson Title: Art Tin foil insects Duration: 1 hour Date: 14.5.2013 Intended Year Level: Prep to 7
Students use their creativity, imagination and senses to express their ideas, experiences and feelings through Dance, Drama, Music, Media and Visual Art. They begin to develop their aesthetic understandings of arts elements and languages. They create their own arts works, and present and respond to their own and others arts works, considering particular audiences and particular purposes. They see the place of the arts in peoples work and community lives. (Essential Learnings)

They are to think of a kind word to write on their insect that represents friendship, kindness, caring and being a good classroom member. Check for understanding. Transition to desks using word of the day

1. Get students to squeeze tinfoil into a bugs body 2. Cover it with available paper materials and glue to decorate 3. Wrap thread around body and secure with tape 4. Cut out wings from materials on hand 5. Glue them on and wrap more thread as required 6. Cut out paper eyes and glue on (Use premade eyes if available) 7. Add antenna from rolled up paper or foil or pipe cleaners 8. Students write their name and kind word and attach to insect Move and scan, assisting where required Use behaviour strategies as required Advise students it is time to finish Invite students to clean up desk area and classroom Transition class to the mat with designs, using word of the day
