The Design Principle of Contrast is an effect by placing or arranging
different elements next to each other and allows you to separate content.

Repetition
The Design Principle of Repetition repeats elements like graphic, font
style, or size. It is the use of similar or connected pictorial elements to make artwork seem active.

Unity

The Design Principle of Unity

is a relationship among elements of a visual that helps all elements function together and give a sense of oneness. Unity is seen as a whole before individual elements are noticed.

Proximity
The Design Principle of Proximity
is when related items are grouped together so they become one visual unit. The amount of separation tells the reader how the material is organized.

Alighnment

Alignment
The Design Principle of Alignment is the adjustment of objects in
relation to other objects on a page. It is how elements line up with each other and within margins.

Contrast

Contrast draws in the readers attention to Create Visual Hiearchy.

Proximity puts related items close together.

Proximity allows Objects near each other to be seen a unit from ogjects Away.
This magazine cover groups different topics covered inside of the magazine by organizing the text using different design element s and font size within the same proximity of each other.

Alignment
Alignment guides the eyes towards different content on a page.
The graphic designer used a ruler to connect content on this magazine cover. The use of alignment keeps the page organized and gives it a clean and sophisticated look.

Alignment helps readers navigate and digest as easily as Possible
In this Neutrogena advertisement strong structure is visual because of the alignment throughout. The header, body text, and bottom text are right aligned.

Alignment creates a sharper more ordered design
The back of India Aries album cover uses alignment to bring order to the amount of information used in the design.

Unity
Unity creates integrated images in which all elements are working as a Whole
This image uses several indivual elements to form a cohesive design. The use of calm, cooled colors helps tie the design as a whole.

Van Gogh shows unity in his Stary Nights painting with the swirling brush strokes and dominance of cool colors. This unifies the surface and gives a feeling that everything belongs as one.
