Project Title: Proper Setup of Student Data The use of an organized Student Data Notebook is the first step in ensuring that teachers are engaging students in the learning process. Data notebooks (or folders) support students in becoming co-producers of their learning. They help students organize processes for learning. The notebook generally contains a students mission, goals and action plans to support classroom and personal learning. The ultimate goal is to promote student achievement through the use of improved student data notebooks. Participants will include Renaissance Elementary School 3rd 5th grade team which is composed of 15 female teachers with an average of 15 years elementary teaching experience. 10 of the teachers have earned Masters Degrees in Education, 4 have earned Specialist Degrees in Education and 1 teacher has earned a Doctorate Degree in Education. Currently, 5 out of the 15 teachers implemented the use of Student Data Notebooks (or folders) this school year. All 15 teachers have used some version of a Student Data Notebook (or folder) in the past. Training will be delivered face to face and interactive, in that teachers will leave the session with one completed Student Data Notebook. Terminal Objective: To give the instructional benefits of implementing the use of Student Data Notebooks. Enabling Objectives Recall the purposes for implementing student data notebooks. Assessment Idea Formative Assessment: Participants will review slide # . Then write a summary detailing the reasons for implementing the use of Student Data Notebooks. Absorb Activity Participants will review slides # 7- 9 which give the benefits of implementing the use of Student Data Notebooks. Do Activity Then write a summary detailing the reasons for implementing the use of Student Data Notebooks. Connect Activity When implementing the use of Student Data Notebooks, effectively relate the reasons to their students to ensure student understanding and involvement.

Name the required components of a RES student data notebook. Formative Assessment: Participants will be given an incomplete RES Student Data Notebook Checklist. To complete a table of contents for a RES student data notebook. Formative Assessment: Participants will use the Student Data Notebook Checklist (Slide 13 of ppt) to create a table of contents. They may add additional information, but they are not allowed to remove any of the required components. The table of contents must reflect information for all sections and related materials for each section. A sample will be provided. Before creating a table of contents, participants will review the sample table of contents for a RES Student Data Notebook.
