Statement of the sixth anniversary of Depeyin Massacre
Date: 05/24/2009
Dear Pro-Democracy Activists,
Today May 30" 2009 is the sixth anniversary of Depeyin massacre in which
Burma military junta tried to assassinate Noble Peace laureate Aung San Suu
Kyi. Many innocent Pro-democracy activists, who boldly fight for
democracy and affectionately support her, sacrificed their lives in the hands
of this canny and devious military junta. Although she escaped from the fatal
assassination, she was unjustly imprisoned under house arrest.
With the help of Russia and China, the junta twisted the whole world
shamelessly holding referendum for prejudiced constitution without Nargis
cyclone victims who severely suffered in May 2008 in order to sustain their
military power. Moreover, they are now arranging for 2010 election for
prolonging military regime.
Finally, on May7, 2009, the military junta planned to imprison under house
arrested Aung San Suu Kyi since her compounded was intruded by an
American citizen and now being accused of this charged.
We, over fifty million of people who love Burma, and who live in different
countries, strongly and determinedly encourage you all to oppose this
illegitimated 2010 election and to fight for rapidly building a democracy
government in any possible ways, by any roles and from anywhere in order
to end up this military power, and to have freedom from the suppressed
slavery of the military regime.
