Differentiated Instruction: I will appeal to different styles of learners (visual, audio, hands-on, etc.) through various types of instruction. Also, part of evaluation will be based on each individual students abilities, capabilities, and potential. Enrichment Opportunities: For students in my classroom who demonstrate early mastery of a standard and may need extension/enrichment, I will allow these students to take projects a step further creatively. I will also allow for other opportunities for more enhanced projects in addition to the projects previously completed. Remediation or Intervention Opportunities: For students who show signs of being struggling learners in my classroom, I will incorporate different techniques based on the needs of the student(s). I will work one-on-one with students, allow advanced students to tutor/model for the remediate student, allow extra time for production and completion, and make modifications when necessary during the evaluation process. Progress reports and/or monitoring: Communication with parents regarding student progress will be made periodically. Progress reports will be distributed every few weeks, if the students grade begins to slip, and/or upon request by the student and/or parent. When necessary, I will notify the parent of any concerns, progress, etc. via phone call, email, and/or mail. Provision: Alternative assignments will be provided if necessary due to an objection. Participation in class: There should be 100% participation in class each day. Looking and listening when the teacher or a designated student is talking, working on class assignments until COMPLETION, participation in partnered/group activities, etc. This also includes making sure each students personal work space is clean each day before departure. Points will be deducted from daily grades for wasting time, working on another classes work, laying head on table during class, being prompted by the teacher to listen or work, and not following class rules. A minimum of 80% of a project must be done within the classroom to ensure academic honesty and participation from each student. Late work: Work that is not turned in on time will have 10 points deducted for each day late up to 5 days. No late work will be accepted after five days from the due date! Incomplete work IS accepted for a grade. However, you are given ample time during class for each project, so projects should not be turned in incomplete. Students are encouraged to turn in incomplete work for partial credit rather than receiving zeros . Zeros are assigned when nothing has been turned in I cannot grade what I cannot see!!! Cell Phones and Listening devices: Cell phones are NOT allowed in class, so keep them put away and turned off please! This is a Putnam City District rule. If a cell phone is being used, it will be taken from the student and given to the appropriate principal. Other forms of discipline may also be taken within the classroom in addition to turning it in to the principal. Please inform your parents that if they need to reach you, they must call the school office and a note will be sent down or they may contact my extension. Otherwise, it is a disruption to the learning environment. **Ipods/listening devices will only be allowed on Fridays IF the class has shown good behavior and work ethic throughout the entire week. If behavior remains good consistently, more days will be added as a reward. Hall Passes: *School Student Handbook Policy-new 2013/14.
