Project Update Green Street Parking Lot Improvement Project

August 28th, 2013

During the past few days Target Construction has been working to install new granite curbing for planting islands in the Green Street Parking Lot. Unfortunately a unexpected shutdown at the plant supplying the granite curbing has resulted in a delay for installation of the curbing segments, which in turn has impacted the anticipated final paving and line striping dates. Installation of the granite curbing is nearly complete. We are expecting to see delivery of the remaining lengths of granite tomorrow (Thursday, August 29) at which point they will be installed. The Parking Lot will then be open to the public until final paving (currently anticipated for Tuesday, September 10th (weather permitting). We do not yet know the date of final line striping, but will distribute an update as soon as we know. Please note that (due to the above changes) there will NOT be any final paving or full lot closures this week (August 26-30). Thank you for your patience with this project. As with all construction projects there are sometimes delays due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. We will do our best to keep you informed of any changes in the schedule. If you have any further questions regarding this project, please contact: Andrew R. Port, AICP, Director of Planning & Development, at (978) 465-4400 Thank you for your patience as we beautify and reinvest in downtown Newburyport.
