When indicating a habitual action:


Example: She always answers the call with a smile on her voice. The clients usually complain about the delayed billing.

B. When referring to a permanent setting or location:


Ex: The Philippines is situated in the Southeast Asian region. Mississippi River is in Minnesota.

C. When stating a general truth:
Ex: Water is the universal solvent. It boils at 100 C.

D. When expressing opinion, description or belief:


Ex: My father believes that the Pope John Paul is a saint. Christians accept that teaching that there is life after death. Many consider earth as both heaven and hell itself.

SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE


E. When expressing future action accompanied by a future time expression:
Ex: My mother cooks our dinner tonight. The high school bands compete tomorrow at the plaza.

F. When expressing historical present as in making reports, narration, etc.:

Ex: Carcinogens are predominantly hydrocarbons similarly found cigarette tar.
