1765
Quartering Act
Soldiers were to be housed by the colonists during their stay in the colonies.

Declaratory Act

Boston Massacre

Thomas Paines pamphlet on how the larger land should not be ruled by the smaller land.
-Common Sense proposed revolutionary and radical ideas. -Paine wrote of a republic and Americas duty to form a republic, whose power flowed from the people themselves, not from a corrupt and despotic monarch. -Colonies were inspired by the idea of independence formalized in a document.
It created the idea of America being able to be a republic and an end to hereditary aristocracy.

Document stating that the colonies ought to be and would be free and independent states.
-The document clearly delineated the terms of the colonies and meant conflict in the future.
