 Recognition of Basic Rights and Responsibilities
 Man’s Environment, natural or man-made, is important
to realize the human rights, including the rights to live.

 Public should have the rights of freedom and access


to information regarding the environmental issues that
are likely to affect them,

 Environmental issues are best realized in an inclusive


system of governance such as democracy.
Revision and reforms
 Creation of Cross-sectoral and cross-media approach
 Authorities should undertake multi-sectoral and
integrated approach to environmental management
such as greater public participation, decentralization,
use of indigenous knowledge and market-based
systems.

 Use of alternative enforcement techniques


 In a situation where enforcement mechanisms or
resources are lacking, volunteer-assistance such as
conservation groups should be used.

 Consideration of Ecological damage
 Equal or Increased consideration to ecological
damages than economic loss

• Use of Customary and Traditional systems


 In order to ensure decentralization and
empowerment, strengthening of local
democracy, greater acceptance of laws and
“true” management of natural resources.
