ICT Overview Learning Activity Brainstorming Learners brainstorm as a whole class their prior knowledge about the formats

of a story and what they know about characters. ICT use with the Learning Sequence Bubbl.us Links Bubbl.us gives opportunity for learners to record their prior knowledge in an easy to use and view program. This can later be retrieved, printed or added to. When learners activate prior knowledge, they are thinking about what they already know on the topic. Thinking about what you already know is useful because it gives you a base to build new knowledge and helps you to make connections with the text (Cameron, 2012). The Australian Curriculum states that learners are to listen to, read and view spoken, written and multimodal texts in which the primary purpose is to entertain, as well as some texts designed to inform (ACARA, 2013). Providing learners with visual stories will broaden their multimodal experience, as well as cater for all the unique learning styles of all learners in the cohort. Learners use the Story Map to organise and summarise their ideas for their story. Story Map is an interactive graphic organiser that assists in the prewriting of a story. The ogranisers intended focus is on organising key elements in the story, for example; character, setting, conflict and resolution. Marzano, Pickering suggests by providing graphic organisers or representations, it helps the learner understand and use the process of problem solving (Marzano, Pickering, 1997). Students develop ICT capability as they learn to use ICT effectively and appropriately to access, create and communicate information and ideas, solve problems and work collaboratively in all learning areas at school (ACARA, 2013). Coinciding with this statement, learners can access and identify what the focus is based around for the learning experience, therefore having a goal or set of aims to reach for. Vokis are a great way to personalise the learning experience. I have chosen to address the whole Prep class in the form of a task, to write a short story to Grandma.

Viewing a story Learners view the story of Little Red Riding Hood, make connections with book in paper form, then sequence events.

Writing a short story Learners are to compose a short story about a chosen topic for assessment. The short story must contain correct writing formats, with a title, beginning, middle and end, as well as have punctuation. Stories will be published via Microsoft PowerPoint.

Read, Write, Think

Flipcharts: Flipcharts have been made throughout the unit for a variety of reasons and uses. An example of the use of the flipchart is in the introduction of the unit where the WALT is demonstrated. Flipcharts are interactive and allow educators to scaffold activities that can host interactive learning. Introducing the assessment: The Voki is used to introduce the assessment task of writing a short story to present to Grandma.
