    The Arabic language uses a root system to form words. In this system, a root consists of 3 or 4 consonants that are combined with prefixes, suffixes and vowels to derive new words. For example, the root K-T-B can be used to form words like kataba (he wrote), kutub (books), maktaba (library) and more. This root system allows new words to be easily formed from a core root.
