Objectives
In this session, you will: Learn how the Reflect & Learn System was developed and how it supports REACH Students. Learn how to access Reflect & Learn, view feedback shared with you and enter your own evidence for formal, informal observations and professional responsibilities.
Gain an understanding of additional resources and tools available to support your use of the system.

REACH Students
Reflect & Learn supports implementation
Reflect & Learn supports information sharing for classroom observations
Reflect & Learn enables the collection, organization, and sharing of evidence (by the administrator with teachers) Reflect & Learn will contain a single source view for summative REACH ratings
Reflect & Learn will be used for educator and principal evaluations
REACH is built to provide better feedback to educators to help them improve Teacher Practice will always be the most heavily weighted measure in REACH
RLS will
Provide reports that help facilitate observations
Focus group sessions and surveys were conducted to gather feedback from observers and educators.
Users described the system as well aligned to the REACH observation process. Users desired a more stream-lined and manageable system design.
Updates to the system for the 2013-14 school year will provide a user friendly tool used to support REACH observations.

TEACHER PRACTICE
The CPS Framework for Teaching*
The CPS Framework for Teaching provides a common definition for effective instruction The basis for Teacher Practice ratings is evidence that is aligned to the CPS Framework for Teaching and the performance level continuum
*Adapted from the Danielson Framework for Teaching and approved by Charlotte Danielson
Post-observation Conference
Collaborative conversation Focus on domains 2 and 3 (continued) and Component 4a Guided by the Protocol for the Post-Observation Conference and the evidence from the observation Ends with suggestions for improving teacher practice and a professional learning focus
Professional Responsibilities
Components 4b, 4c, 4d and 4e of the CPS Framework for Teaching are not observed during the classroom observation cycle
Define educators role outside classroom, including professional growth, contributions made to school, district, and profession
Demonstrated through interactions with colleagues, families, and the broader school community
