ENG 4U Poetry Assignment PART A: The Poetry Lesson Choose a collection of NEW poetry (that is, not an anthology

of old poems) published after the year 2000, and, by carefully reading and analyzing the poems in the collection, develop an understanding of the characteristics (style, themes, tone, etc.) of the poems in this collection. Use at least three (3) poems to illustrate your findings. Present your findings in a lesson to the class of around 10 minutes. You should also at least briefly answer, perhaps in your introduction, Why did you share this particular poet and poetry collection? What drew you to it, what makes it worthwhile to share with the class, what reaction(s) did you have to it, what is its relevance to the world today, etc.? As part of the presentation, you MUST prepare a handout of the shared characteristics of the poems in the collection. You should include quotes from at least two (2) poems for each characteristic. You must also bring in the poetry collection in its published book form to show to the class on your presentation date.
