Welcome to the Windows 7 Operating System Manual Installation Instructions

This document provides the approved method for installing the Windows 7 operating system on supported DeltaV workstations.
IMPORTANT: Installation of the operating system should be done using an Emerson provided Windows 7 image. These instructions are ONLY supported when the operating system is being installed on a supported computer ordered from the Emerson price book where it is not possible to use the Windows 7 image recovery disk on that computer (for example, legacy hardware). It is not supported to use these instructions on any other computer and, if done, is at the customer's risk as a non-standard, unsupported installation.
Check the hardware compatibility table before starting this procedure. Hardware not listed for Windows 7 is not supported and may not function correctly with Windows 7 or DeltaV. Hardware listed but having no drivers on the Resource DVD are compatible but may have limited functionality. NOTE: The Product Key is your license to use Windows 7. It is located on a sticker inside the plastic container for your DVDs. DO NOT DISCARD THE CONTAINER, PRODUCT KEY, OR THE DVDs! DISCARDING THESE ITEMS WILL PREVENT YOU FROM REINSTALLING WINDOWS 7.
NOTE: Some platforms require a mass storage device driver pre-loaded during installation (for example, SATA, RAID, and so forth). Before beginning the procedure copy and unpack the driver to a floppy disk or flash key and insert the floppy disk or flash key.

Begin Installation
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. Turn on your computer. Insert your Windows 7 Professional (32 Bit) DVD into the DVD ROM drive and close the tray. Press F12 and select the CD/DVD-ROM drive as the boot media. Press Enter. Press <any key> to boot from the DVDROM. Wait for Windows 7 to finish loading files. Verify the Language to install is set to your language (i.e. English). Verify the Time and currency format is set correctly (i.e. United States English). Verify the Keyboard or input method is set correctly (i.e. US Keyboard). Click Next. Click Install Now and wait for setup to load. Read the MICROSOFT SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS. Check I accept the license terms. Click Next. Click Custom.

Remove existing partitions
NOTE: If no partitions exist, proceed to the next section.

Load mass storage device driver

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. If your platform requires a mass storage device driver (for example, SATA or RAID) click Load Driver. Insert disk or USB device. Click Browse. Browse to the driver on the floppy or flash drive. Highlight the driver. Click Next.

Create partitions
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Click on Disk 0 Unallocated Space. Enter '40960' in the size box. Click Apply. Click OK. Click Disk 0 Unallocated Space. Click NEW. Accept the default size. Click Apply. Click Disk 0 Partition 2 (39.9 GB). Click Next.

Install Windows 7
Windows 7 installation starts and following actions occur: Copies Windows files. Expands Windows files. Installs features. Installs updates. The computer restarts. Updates the registry. Sets the default graphics mode. The installation completes. Displays setup will continue after restarting. The computer restarts.

Setup for first user

Enter the password for your account (the Image default is deltav). Retype the password. Type a password hint (the Image default is deltav). Enter the 25-digit product key from the sticker inside the Windows package. Uncheck automatically activate when Im online. Click Next. On the Windows update window click Ask me later. Set your time zone (the Image default is (UTC -6:00) Central Standard Time (US & Canada). Set the correct date and time. Click Next. Windows 7 finalizes the settings and prepares the Desktop.

Setup Desktop Icons

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Right-click the mouse anywhere on the desktop. Click Personalize. Click Change desktop icons. Check Computer, User Files, Control Panel, and Network. The Recycle Bin should be already checked. Click OK. Click Desktop Background. Select Windows Wallpapers in the location drop down box. Locate and click the EmersonPM1.bmp file.
NOTE: If you do not have the EmersonPM1.bmp file, you can get it at: FTP://FTP.Emersonprocess.com/Pickup/FRStech/EmersonPM1.zip (size 24kb) 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19. 20. 21. 22. Click OK. Click Screen Saver. Select None in the Screen saver drop down box. Click OK. Click the X in the upper right-hand corner of Personalize to close it. Click the Start button. Click All Programs. Click Accessories. Point to Windows Explorer. Right-click the mouse and hold on Windows Explorer. Drag Window Explorer to the Desktop and release the right mouse button. Click Copy Here. Arrange the icons to suite your preference.

Complete the Disk Partitioning Properties

Click OK. Right-click on the D partition. Click Format. Enter DVData in the volume label text box. Click OK. Click OK. When drive D displays Healthy (Primary Partition) click the X in the upper-right hand corner of Computer Management to close it. 14. Click the X in the upper right-hand corner of the Autoplay box to close it.

Set up Advanced System Properties

Click the Adjust for best performance radio button. Click Apply. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab. Click the Turn on DEP for all programs and service except those I select radio button. Click Apply. Click OK. Click the Advanced tab. Click the Change button. Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drivers. With the C: driver highlighted click the Custom size radio button. Enter an amount equal to 1.5 times the physical memory in your computer in the Initial size and maximum size text boxes. Example 2 GB memory = 3072 Example 3 GB memory = 4608 Example 4 GB memory = 6144 Click Set. Click OK. Click OK. Click OK. Click the System Protection tab. Click configure. Click the Turn off system protection radio button. Click Apply. Click Yes. Click OK. Click the Remote tab. Uncheck Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer. The Dont allow connections to this computer radio button should already be selected. Click OK to restart the computer. Click Restart Now. Log on to your user account (default Emerson password is deltav).

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Double-click Control Panel. Click System Security. Near the Action Center link, click Change User Account Control settings. Drag the slider to Never notify. Click OK. Click Yes.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Click Action Center. Wait for Action Center to initialize. You will see Virus protection, Windows Update, and You must restart. Click Change Action Center settings. Uncheck all the check boxes (9). Click OK. Click the X in the upper right hand corner of Action Center to close it.
1.12 Download Drivers

1. Go to the Emerson FTP site for the computer platform you need. The files are as follows: ftp://ftp.emersonprocess.com/Pickup/FRStech/Opti760_Win7_Drivers.zip (43,231 KB). ftp://ftp.emersonprocess.com/Pickup/FRStech/T3400_Win7_Drivers.zip (43,630 KB) ftp://ftp.emersonprocess.com/Pickup/FRStech/T3500_Win7_Drivers.zip (159,666 KB) ftp://ftp.emersonprocess.com/Pickup/FRStech/R5400_Win7_Drivers.zip (159,668 KB) 2. Copy that file to a location where you can extract it. 3. Extract the ZIP file. 4. Copy the extracted files to a shared drive or DVD or USB flash drive so that you can access these files from the computer you are installing.
NOTE: If no folders exist on the FTP site for your platform, skip this section and skip the Install Drivers section. The drivers are native to the operating system.
1.13 Install Drivers

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Remove the Windows 7 Professional DVD from the DVD-ROM drive. Restart your computer. Log on to your user account (default Emerson password is deltav). Locate the files created from the Emerson Process Management FTP site for this computer platform (for example, 760, or R5400, or so on). Double-click Computer and browse the DVD or USB flash drive or shared hard drive. Find the platform folder to your platform folder (for example, 760 or R5400). If there is no folder for your platform, remove the resource DVD and skip this section. Click on the Chipset folder.

1.14 Configure the Display Properties

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. Right-click the mouse anywhere on the desktop. Click Personalize. In the Themes window scroll down and click the icon for Windows Classic to select. Click Display. Click Adjust Resolution. Set resolution to 1280x1024. (or 1680x1050 for wide-screen displays) Click Advanced settings. Click the Monitor tab. Set the Screen refresh rate to 75 Hertz. (60 Hertz for wide-screen displays) Set the Colors to High Color (16 bit). Click OK. If prompted click Yes to keep changes. Click the X in the upper-right hand corner of Display to close it.
1.15 Configure the Network Interface Cards (NICs)

1. 2. 3. 4. Right click Network. Click Properties. Click Change adapter settings. Plug a LAN cable into the integrated NIC to activate the port.
NOTE: DO NOT use a live LAN cable already connected to a DHCP server as this will assign an IP address.
On a computer with two integrated NICs, use the first add-in NIC.
5. Observe which Local Area Connection becomes active (No red X).
6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Right click the active Local Area Connection. Click Rename. Rename that Local Area Connection 'Plant LAN'. Disconnect the LAN cable from the Plant LAN NIC. Plug a LAN cable into the first add in NIC. NOTE: On computers with two integrated NICs, USE the first integrated NIC.

Emerson Process Management 2010 13. 14. 15. 16. Click Rename. Rename that Local Area Connection 'DeltaV Primary'. Disconnect the LAN cable from the DeltaV Primary NIC. Plug a LAN cable into the second (the add-in) NIC. NOTE: On computers with two integrated NICs, use the second integrated NIC. Observe which Local Area Connection becomes active (No red X). Right click on the active Local Area Connection. Click Rename. Rename that Local Area Connection 'DeltaV Secondary'. Disconnect the LAN cable from the DeltaV Secondary NIC. Right click on the DeltaV Primary NIC. Click Properties. Click Configure. Click the Power Management tab. Uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer. Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Click OK. Repeat the above for the DeltaV Secondary and Plant LAN NICs. Right-click the DeltaV Primary NIC. Click Properties. Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6). Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Click Properties. Click the Use the following IP address radio button. Enter an IP address of '10.4.0.1'. Enter a Subnet mask of '255.254.0.0'. Click OK. Click Close. Repeat the process for the DeltaV Secondary NIC using an IP address '10.8.0.1' and Subnet mask of '255.254.0.0'. Repeat the process for the Plant LAN NIC using an IP address of '192.168.1.1' and a Subnet mask of '255.255.255.0'. If a fourth NIC exists, repeat the process for the spare NIC using an IP address of '192.168.10.1' and a Subnet mask of '255.255.255.0' or any appropriate address. NOTE: An other appropriate IP address and subnet mask can be used on the Plant LAN as required. Press the ALT key. Click Advanced. Click Advanced Settings. Highlight one of the NICs in the Connections box and use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to arrange the NICs to provide a binding order of 1) DeltaV Secondary, 2) Plant LAN 3) DeltaV Primary, 4) Spare or Remote Access connections. Refer to the section 2.1 - DeltaV NIC Binding Order for the exact order. Click OK. Click the X in the upper-right hand corner of Network Connections to close it.

The Balanced radio button should already be selected. Click Change plan setting next to the Balanced radio button. Set Turn off the display to never. Set Put the computer to sleep to never. Click change advanced power settings. Expand Hard disk. Expand Turn off hard disk after. Click Setting. Click the down arrow until never appears in the box. Expand Sleep. Expand Sleep After (If applicable). Click the down arrow until never appears in the box. Expand Allow hybrid sleep. Click Allow hybrid sleep. Change Setting to Off. Expand USB settings. Expand USB selective suspend setting. Change Setting to Disabled. Expand Power buttons and led. Expand Power button action. Leave Setting at Shut down. Expand Sleep button action. Change Setting to Do nothing. Expand Display. Expand turn off display after. Click the down arrow until never appears in the box. Click OK. Click the X in the upper right-hand corner of Edit Plan Settings to close it.

1.17 Disable Windows Firewall

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Double-click Control Panel. Click System and Security. Click Windows Firewall. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off. In the Home or work (private) network location settings section, uncheck Notify me when Windows firewall blocks a new program. Select the Turn off Windows firewall (not recommended) radio button. In the Public network location setting section uncheck Notify me when Windows firewall blocks a new program. Select the Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) radio button. Click OK. Click the X in the upper-right hand corner of Windows Firewall to close it.
1.18 Enable the Administrator Account

In the Command prompt window type the following: net user administrator deltav/active:yes You will see Command completed successfully. Type exit. Click Start. Click the right arrow on the shutdown button. Click Log off. Click the Administrator icon. Type the administrator password: deltav.

Click OK on the System Properties page. Click the X in the upper right-hand corner of System to close it.

Select the Show hidden files, folders and drives radio button. Uncheck Hide empty drives in the Computer folder. Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types. Uncheck Hide protected operation system files (Recommended). Click Yes. Click OK. In the Libraries Windows expand Computer (click the + sign). Expand DVSys (C:). Expand Users. Click Emerson. In the right frame browse to NTUSER.DAT and click to highlight. Scroll down to ntuser.ini. Press the control key and click ntuser.ini. Right-click ntuser.ini.

Right-click an empty space in the right frame. Click Paste. Check Do this for the next 1 conflicts. Click Copy and Replace ntuser.ini. Press the ALT key. Click Tools. Click Folder options. Click the View tab. Check the Hide protected operation system files (Recommended) check box. Click OK. Click the X in the upper right hand corner of Default to close it. Remove all DVD-ROMs, Flash drives, or Floppy disks.

1.21 Activate Windows

If you have an internet connection: a. b. c. d. e. Right-click Computer. Click Properties. Click Activate Windows now. Click Activate Windows online now. Follow directions.
If you DO NOT have an internet connection: a. Click Show me other ways to activate Windows 7. If you have a modem connection: a. b. c. d. Click my modem to connect directly to the activation service. Find an available phone number for activation for your area. Click Next. Follow directions.
If you do NOT have an internet connection or a modem: a. b. c. d. e. f. Click show me other ways to activate. Click use the automated phone system. Find an available phone number for activation. Click Next. Call the phone number listed. Follow direction given on the phone.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 DeltaV NIC Binding Order
Windows 7 binds communication protocols to the physical Network Interface Cards (NIC) in a particular order. That order can affect the performance of engineering a DeltaV system. The following is a listing of the NIC configurations and the binding order that will optimize your DeltaV system. A PC with redundant Control Network only (2 NICs) 1. DeltaV Secondary 2. DeltaV Primary A PC with redundant Control Network and a plant LAN not configured as an RDS (3 NICs default). 1. DeltaV Secondary 2. Plant LAN 3. DeltaV Primary A PC with simplex Control Network and a plant LAN, not configured as an RDS (2 NICs). 1. DeltaV Primary 2. Plant LAN A PC with redundant Control Network configured as a Remote Data Sever (RDS) with a simplex remote network (3 NICs). 1. DeltaV Secondary 2. Remote Primary 3. DeltaV Primary A PC with simplex Control Network configured as an RDS with a simplex remote network (2 NICs). 1. DeltaV Primary 2. Remote Primary A PC with redundant Control Network and configured as an RDS with a redundant remote network (4 NICs). 1. DeltaV Secondary 2. Remote Secondary 3. DeltaV Primary 4. Remote Primary

Joining an Active Domain

1. Right click on 'Computer'. 2. Click 'Properties'. 3. Under 'Computer Name, Domain and Workgroup Settings, click 'Change settings'. 4. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 5. Click the Computer Name tab, and the click Change. 6. Under 'Member of' click the 'Domain' radio button. 7. Type the Fully Qualified DNS name as follows: <System name>.DeltaV.<company name>.Local 8. Click 'OK' 9. Type the domain administrator user name and password. 10. Click 'OK'. 11. Once the message appears that you are now a member of the domain, click ok to restart the PC and let it reboot. 12. When the logon screen comes up, enter your domain administrator username and password. NOTE: The username should be in the following format: <domain name>\<user name>.
