English 2201 Mealy Mountain Collegiate 2013-2014

Course Overview: English 2201 is an academic course which forms part of the Atlantic Canada Education Foundation curriculum and is designed for the majority of students entering Level II of senior high school. The study of language and experiences with a broad range of literature and media texts will enable students to reflect on their own learning strategies as they continue to develop confidence as language learners. Note: Though Unit 1 focuses exclusively on non-fiction, analysis of the form as it relates to current events will be on-going throughout the year. Unit 6: Oral Presentation Persuasive Speech (February March) Students must research and present a 4 - 6 minute persuasive speech on a current event (2013-2014). Please clear choice of topic with teacher BEFORE beginning project. Speeches will tentatively begin on March 3rd and will be completed by March 14th. Unit 8: Research Project (May 20th June 3rd) Students must complete a research project on a topic related to the novel Night. Your teacher will provide you with topics for this assignment at the beginning of Term II.
