Are sexist stereotypes still relevant in our society?


Introduction Greet the audience & Self Intro Everyone may say in public that we believe in equality between women and men. But do we really believe what we say? We will see that most of us believe things that we wouldnt admit a priori. We will talk about sexist stereotypes. o o o Today: o o o o o Body: How was our survey done o o o o Use of Google Docks 9 questions regarding sexist stereotypes 52 answers! Nationality / (relevant fact) about the participants How was the survey done? What did I expect to find? What did I find? Analysis of Outputs Conclusions Do we know what is a stereotype? Do we agree with them? Has our culture / origin / religion any influence on them?

What did I expect to find: o o o o Do people still have Sexual stereotypes? Do men tend to agree more to them? Does culture play a main role? Is there any influence Because of Religious Background?

Survey Report, Outlines, 1st Draft What did I find? o Cultural influences: o In western countries equality in education is achieved. In Asian countries 1/3 believe that man have priority in access to education

Role of physical appearance & Gender: 50 % believe than women are more valued for their physical appearance. Differencing by gender: 60 % of men do it while 40 % of women do. 70% believe that physical appearance does not play the same role for men. Both, men and women have a similar point of view.

Women - Emotional & Men - Rational 75% believe that women are more sensitive and men more rational. Both, men and women have a similar point of view.

Analysis: Asian Countries: o Residual predominance of men in education.

There is no correlation with gender! o o Some stereotypes tend to be more popular only in men . Some others are still common between women.

50 % Atheist: No dependence on religion was found.

Conclusions: We may not like them but their influence is still easy to find.
