ENZYMES

A substance produced by a living organism that acts as a catalyst which speeds up a chemical reaction to bring about a specific biochemical reaction. Most enzymes are proteins (Biodegradable proteins which break-down oils and are digested) enzymes control reactions within cells and some, such as the enzymes involved in digestion, outside them. The purpose of an enzyme in a cell is to allow the cell to carry out chemical reactions very quickly. These reactions allow the cell to build things or take things apart as needed. This is how a cell grows and reproduces. At the most basic level, a cell is really a little bag full of chemical reactions that are made possible by enzymes! http://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/life/cellula r-microscopic/cell2.htm
