Overview/Introduction
Technology Tinkerers 101 is designed to give students ample opportunities to explore with various technology applications to utilize in the classroom setting and enhance learning. Students will explore the following to present their PBL research project:
Photostory Google Docs and Microsoft Office and Powerpoint iMovie and Comic Life Wikispaces Prezi and Slide Rocket

Audience and Course Info


This course is created for fifth grade students. Our current curriculum integrates social studies content within the literacy block; therefore, students will demonstrate their knowledge of the standards by creating a technology-based project.

Standards
The class integrates the common core standards and NET standards within a PBL model to teach and train students on a variety of programs. Common Core: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.5.7 Draw on information from multiple print or digital sources, demonstrating the ability to locate an answer to a question quickly or to solve a problem efficiently. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.5.7 Conduct short research projects that use several sources to build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.5.2 Summarize a written text read aloud or information presented in diverse media and formats, including visually, quantitatively, and orally. ISTE (Nets): Standard 1- Creativity and Innovation: Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. Standard 2- Communication and Collaboration: Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others. Standard 5- Digital Citizenship: Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior. Standard 6- Technology Operations and Concepts: Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.

2.1 -Watch a tutorial on iPad functions -Individual iPad to explore -take Pictures of partner 2.2 -Photos of Digital Citizenship 2.3 -Uploading photos onto computer 2.4 -Edit photos with Microsoft Office Picture 2.5 -Transfer images from computer to flash drive

Objectives
Getting Acquainted-The Digital Camera: Students will demonstrate how to use an iPad by taking 10 photos. Students will demonstrate how to upload photos to their computer. Students will explore three photo-editing features (cropping, red eye correction, and enhancement effects) and select five of their favorite photos to edit using any of the features learned. Students will demonstrate how to save photos to a flash drive.
