Stettsen Olsen Global Warming Global warming has been a much debated argument for decades now.

Research has been skewed both in favor of and against the concept of global warming. Finding information with no political agenda is a very difficult thing to do. We, as a society, are bombarded with information and platforms telling us what to believe and what not to believe. Information that is in favor of global warming being a real threat is plentiful. Many of the websites are funded by some political party and are easily found when sought after. Many sites address the idea of forcings. When a volcano erupts it shoots ash out into the air which clouds the atmosphere. This in turn blocks out sunlight and cools the earth. Another example of a natural forcing is when greenhouse gases naturally collect in a specified area, forcing a climate change by keeping the suns heat trapped in the atmosphere.1 Cars, factories, and other sources of pollution emits Co2 into the atmosphere which deteriorates the ozone. This affects the climate, forcing it to change which makes us as humans forcings. These gases dont just deteriorate the ozone they trap in greenhouse gases which, as discussed before, keep the heat of the sun in the atmosphere. Parties that believe in the existence of global warming argue that everything is connected. They believe that climate change is responsible for flooding in areas of the world, world sicknesses in many areas, melting of the global ice caps, and rise in worldwide temperature. 2 1 "Arguments from Global Warming Skeptics and what the science really says. Two years ago an article came out titled, A Really Inconvenient Truth: Global Warming is Not Real. 3 Sixteen prominent scientists recently signed an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal expressing their belief that the theory of global warming is not supported by science. This has not been getting the attention it deserves because politicians (looking at you Al Gore) are frankly embarrassed to admit that they are wrong about the phenomenon known as global warming. The article cites data that supports the idea that the earth has not warmed since 1997. NASA data suggested that the earth is heading to a solar cycle that will produce cooler temperatures. The movements against global warming suggest that the idea is purely political. Rush Limbaugh, radio talk show host, often broadcasts on the subject. "The five hottest summers (1936, 1934, 1954, 1980 and 1930) all occurred with CO2 below 350 PPM." Four of these summers were before the number one cause of global warming: SUVs and fossil fuel-burning vehicles Said Rush 4 In my researching this project to choose a side, there has been no shortage of mudslinging form either side. Facts can be skewed and altered to the advantage of the side that is presenting the information. From an outside perspective it does appear to be a political battle, when looking at the forces involved it seems to be the democrats vs. the republicans, like it always is. We should do our part to take the best care of our earth that we can. We also need to be sure that human needs are met. This balance appears to be difficult to define and achieve for humanity.
