Alisha Reeve MUSE 356 - Choral Methods Citation 8: The CARE and Feeding of Students Don P.

Ester September 2000 Discussion The CARE model is one that I agree with whole-heartedly. I have heard horror stories about new teachers who have horrendous discipline problems. It is my hope that my training will provide me with the tools necessary to be an effective educator who earns the respect of my students without alienating them. It will be very important to create a rapport with my students that I will teach them and provide lasting music experiences, but that I also want them to have fun doing it. One of the main ways we have discussed this is to have a clear discipline plan in place. This will often feature the discipline plan of the school with additions to fit the Choral classroom. It will be extremely important to follow through with the expectations in the plan and to have a system of rewards and consequences to encourage student participation and good behavior. Hopefully, by following these steps I will be able to foster respect in my students.
