QR Code Genetics

Print out the QR codes below. Be sure that each student gets a QR Code for eye colour, hair, hair colour, complexion, and smile. The collection of these QR Codes should be at random. This way the students will get people that will likely have different traits. Put the traits into a hat, and have the students pull our traits. Then have the students use a QR code scanner to identify their traits. Each student should get a handout (found below) to fill out the Punnett squares and questions.

Discussion:
What is the point of picking traits at random? How is this related to genetics? What is the principle of dominance? What is the principle of segregation? Why are Punnett squares useful in determining genotype? What does the QR Code represent?
