LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR I-405 HOV PROJECT

LOS ANGELES – As part of the preliminary work for the northbound San Diego
Freeway (I-405) High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV, or carpool) lane from the Santa Monica
Freeway (I-10) to the Ventura Freeway (U.S. 101), the following closures are planned
from July 31 through August 6:
Friday, July 31

• 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, August 1, one lane on southbound I-405 from U.S. 101
to Wilshire Boulevard;
• 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, August 1, one lane on northbound I-405 from Wilshire
Boulevard to U.S. 101;
• 7 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., the Moraga Drive off-ramp from northbound I-405;
• 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., the Moraga Drive on-ramp to northbound I-405.

Saturday, August 1

• 12: 01 a.m. to 8 a.m., up to two lanes on northbound I-405 from Sunset

Boulevard to U.S. 101;
• 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, August 2, the Sunset Boulevard on-ramp to and off-
ramp from northbound I-405;
• 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., the Moraga Drive on-ramp to and off-ramp from
northbound I-405.

Monday, August 3

• 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, one lane on northbound I-405 from Sunset
Boulevard to U.S. 101;

• 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, the Getty Center Drive on-ramp to

northbound I-405.

Boulevard to U.S. 101;
• 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, August 6, one lane on southbound I-405 from U.S.
101 to Wilshire Boulevard;
• 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, August 6, the Getty Center Drive on-ramp to
northbound I-405.

• 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, August 7, one lane on northbound I-405 from Sunset
Boulevard to U.S. 101;

• 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, August 7, one lane on southbound I-405 from U.S. 101 to
Wilshire Boulevard;
• 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, August 7, the Getty Center Drive on-ramp to northbound
I-405.

Caltrans and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) are
jointly implementing this $1 billion design/build project. Contractor is Kiewit Pacific
Company. When this project completes, estimated in spring 2013, it will complete the
HOV lane system on I-405 in Los Angeles County, making it possible for motorists to
ride in the carpool lane in both directions from the San Fernando Valley to Orange
County.
