Lesson 5: More Verbs in the Past

You can make most verbs show past time just by adding -ed. The spelling of some verbs changes in other ways when you add -ed.

Rules to follow: 1. Some verbs end with e. Drop the e and add ed Example: race+ed=raced 2. Some verbs end with a consonant and y. Change the y to i when you add ed. Example: cry+ed=cried 3. Some verbs end with one vowel folllowed by one consonant. Double the consonant and add ed. Example: stop+p+ed=stopped
