What are the points medieval music benefit us today?

Medieval music has a great impact and benefit for us today, though many people do not know the origion of these benefits, through my western music history subject, I was able to know where these benefits originated. Medieval music benefits us in Christian music. Owing it to Nero few records of their music were preserved. As christianity flourished in Asia, many melodies had Greek origin while Hebrew melodies were also adapted by the church. Without Christian music nobody would be singing the church music we have today. Establishment of Rituals are also points how medieval music benefit us today. The mass was made the central feature and the focus of prescribed music. If there were no establishment of rituals, masses on Sundays would be unimaginable. The Plain Chant also benefit us today. This music was adopted for the church rituals, found upon the music used by the early Christians. Gregorian Modes, were scales selected as basis for the Plain Chant, after Pope Gregory modelled after the Greek modes. Neumes were originally by letters in Greek system but was simplified by Boethius. Organum which is the first attempt in combining sounds has great impacts in the music industry by making voice variations like octave singing. Discant was modified by the introductions of other intervals called symphonies. Without discants we wouldnt be able to sing apart. Counterpointing helps us add melody to the given cantus, counterpointing plays a big role not only back then during medieval period but also today in all kinds of genre.
