10/17/13 To Whom It May Concern, I am pleased to recommend Nichole Anderson for a teaching position in your school district.

Nichole has worked for me as an instructor assistant (IA) for the Introductory Mathematics Program/Lab (IMPL) at Northern State University for three years. The purpose of IMPL is to give students enrolled in Basic Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, and College Algebra courses the opportunity to work in small learning groups to engage in cooperative group learning. Each group of students in the math lab is assigned an IA and it is the IAs job is to facilitate group learning and help guide the students as they work together to understand and apply mathematics concepts. As an IA, Nichole prepared for her labs by familiarizing herself with the assignments and concepts in order to be able to work all problems and answer any student questions in the lab. During the lab, she lead a group of five to six students to work out problems on a group quiz and help answer questions about homework problems. Nichole graded her students for every lab based on their attendance, homework completion, participation, and the group quiz. She also followed up with students who missed the lab to ensure that they stay engaged in the course. Nichole did a remarkable job as an IA and it is evident that she is an excellent teacher. She was able to get all students in her group involved and her evaluation results show that her students enjoyed having her as an IA. One student commented she was extremely helpful and was always helping when it was needed. Another student commented She was helpful when we didnt know what to do. She just didnt give us the answer, but helped us through the problems. Nichole has boundless patience and works well with low, middle and high level students. She had high expectations for her students and used different techniques to get the students involved. She was always prepared for lab and knows the material forwards and backwards so she could answer any math question the students threw her way. I am confident that Nichole Anderson will be an asset to any school district she works for. She is confident, knowledgeable, and has many skills of a seasoned teacher. I believe that she will continue to grow and become more effective as a teacher with further opportunities. Please feel free to contact me for more information.

Sincerely,
