JUDGES ACTION As a judge presiding over an international war crimes tribunal, I will handle the scenarios below in the

following manner: 1. While in pre-trial confinement at the Tribunal, the efendant writes and has published slanderous biographical accounts about the !rosecutor and "hief #udge. $sing made up facts, the boo% about the !rosecutor asserts that he is an alcoholic and closet homose&ual, and the boo% about the #udge asserts that she has ta%en bribes from various governments to rule against the efendant. Action: Ignore the above-mentioned act of the efendant. I will just be diverting the attention of the public from the real issues of the case if I will place much attention on the efendant's boo%. (oreover, the efendant will just be motivated to write more slanderous and fallacious accounts about the people inside the "ourt if e&tra attention will be given to the said writings. ). The efendant refuses to rise when the #udge enters the room or to address the #udge respectfull* as +,our -onor.. And he sits with his bac% to the judges. Action: /et ground rules inside the "ourt and warn the efendant that failure to abide the said rules will have conse0uences, i.e., he ma* be sent out. (oreover, I will pa* no attention to his refusal to address me respectfull*. -is disrespectful act will surel* not affect the "ourt's credibilit* in the e*es of the public. 1. The efendant refuses to dress appropriatel*, coming into the "ourtroom in his pajamas. Action: /et ground rules inside the "ourt and warn the efendant that failure to abide the said rules will have conse0uences. 2or e&ample, I will inform the efendant that he must come to the "ourtroom with proper attire3 otherwise, the "ourt will order him to wear the ordinar* clothing of those people charged in local courts 4orange t-shirt with letter +!.5. 6. The efendant insists on ta%ing a pra*er brea% at the hol* hour in the middle of witness testimon*. Action: Alwa*s respect the rights of the efendant to practice his religion. Thus, e&plain to the efendants that he will be given time to pra* to his 7od in accordance with

his religious belief. Thus, set the schedule of their pra*er brea% which will not conflict scheduled hearings.
