To whom it may concern,

I am writing this letter to bestow my highest possible recommendation for Sierra Williams. I have known Sierra, academically, as an enrollee to the AP English Literature course and Collegiate Scholars Cohort at Foshay Learning Center. Since early in the course, she enveloped scholarship, discipline and craving for educational enhancement. She had obviously profited greatly from a temperate desire for reading, and had acquired perceptive insights into the complexity of Literature and its relations to human nature. Sierra has an engraved passion over literature. Whether is discussing Scott Fitzgeralds existential-modernist thesis in The Great Gatsby or projecting a sympathetic catharsis over TS Eliots Love Song of Prufrock; Sierra consistently displayed maturity, discipline and content knowledge. Particularly, her ability to assess the moral-philosophical dilemma expressed in Eliots poetry. An adequate analysis and understanding of any of Eliots poems, requires an appreciation of the poets experimental writing celebrated during the modern literary period. Sierra is a reader, critical thinker, writer and lover of all literary genres. She is a collegiate writer, capable of successfully applying theories and criticisms to text. She has also demonstrated an inclination over lyric poetry. As a critical reader, she is the justification of a true AP student. She is capable of dissecting authors purpose, argument, audience, not only effectively employing rhetorical devices, but also, comprehending the authors syntactic structure. A discipline, conscious student who also participates in college preparatory programs as USC Neighborhood Academic Initiative and the Collegiate Scholars Cohort. In both programs, Sierra is challenged; as she is expected to complete additional/supplemental readings, essays, and Socratic Seminars. Translating from the academics to her persona, Sierra is a distinctive type of leader, riveted by the difficulties in the betterment of her school and community. She is a dynamic, balanced student, belonging to Soccer, Cross Country, and other school activities. To Foshay Learning Center, she denotes leadership and academic scholarship (ranking in the top five of best students); essentially, she is about teamwork, civic responsibility, community and honor. She is thus, an astonishing prospect to thy prestigious program. Sincerely, Mr. Omar W. Graham English Teacher/Program Coordinator Collegiate Scholars
