Term two
It is great to be back in the classroom after my short visit at the beginning of term 1. I am enjoying my teaching placement at Mount Barker Primary School and I would like to thank parents and students for making me feel so welcome in the school and the classroom. Thank you to Brenda (Indias mum) and Aaron (Jessikas dad) who helped on the working bee, your help is much appreciated. Each year, National Reconciliation Week is held from the 27th of May to the 3rd of June. Included in this week is Sorry Day on Monday the 27th of May. The week-long celebration is a special opportunity to celebrate and build on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians. The focus for Reconciliation Week this year is Lets Talk Recognition so during the week our class will be participating in activities which will support the national reconciliation effort. Activities for our class will include reading stories about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and discussing their culture. A reminder that Gymnastics starts this week at 12 oclock Tuesday. If you would like to come and watch Gymnastics you are more than welcome to join us in the hall on Tuesday. We would love some parents to listen to other children read. Reading can be done in room 18 where it is quiet and times can be flexible, for example 10 minutes to 30 minutes on any day, morning or afternoon. I look forward to working with the class for the last two weeks of my teaching placement. From Miss Blackwell (Rebecca)
