Theres this guy who is in love with this girl named Annabelle Lee. It turns out that their love for each other is so strong even the angels in heaven get jealous. So they kill Annabelle by freezing her to death. It also turns out that Annabelle was a princess or noble of some sort because her kinsmen comes and takes her body away and puts it in a tomb. But, her lover creeps in every night just to lay by her coffin. I think the overall meaning of this poem is love is a very strong thing and it is hard for some people to part with their loved ones.

And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side Of my darlingmy darlingmy life and my bride, In her sepulchre there by the sea-In her tomb by the sounding sea. Euphony: Than to love and be loved by me. , But we loved with a love that was more than love , But our love it was stronger by far than the love. Cacophony: With a love that the wingd seraphs of Heaven Coveted her and me., That the wind came out of the cloud by night, Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. , That the wind came out of the cloud by night, Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

Attitude

Shifts

In the beginning of the poem the author used a lot of euphony when describing how much he and Annabelle were in love. But in the middle the author used cacophony to describe how the angels envied and killed Annabel. In the last two paragraphs its very sad and sweet at the same time because the author talks about how he still loves her even though shes dead and then he talks about how he lays by her coffin every night which is either very sweet or very sad. I think the first shift happens in the poem when the author narrates the part when the angels kill Annabelle Lee. See, in that paragraph it goes from happy, to sad and the rest of the poem stays pretty sad.

Yes because now I know that Annabelle Lee wasnt just somebody the author loved, it was somebody he loved and lost.
