It is cited as the reason for the downfall of the native American nations, and the rise of the American colonies, ultimately leading to the creation of the United States of America

This event is even blamed for the development of slavery in America

Slaves work mines, sugar plantations
Conditions on slave ships: Dark, dirty, cramped quarters. People treated like animals - underfed, chained and had to stay where they were no matter what bodily function they needed to relieve. There was bedsores, disease, rape and death.
