I hope that your child has enjoyed the school year so far. In this newsletter I hope to clarify any questions that you may have as well as highlight what is on the agenda this month.

Language:

In Reading, we will be focusing on retelling. Please also practise this activity with your child at home after they have finished reading. In writing, we will be exploring basic grammar and spelling rules. We will also be loo ing at how to plan and write a story.

Mathematics:

We will be wor ing on data management. We will be exploring how to collect and organi!e data. "he students will learn how to display data using charts and graphs while using appropriate labels, ma e graphs and how to read information on them. We will also be ma ing surveys and learning how to collect, read and sort data.

Science:

"he grade #$s will continue to learn about properties of liquids and solids. "hey will assess ways in which the use of liquids and solids can have an impact on society and the environment. "hey will investigate the properties of liquids and solids while exploring their interaction. "he grade %$s will continue their unit on &orces 'ausing (ovement. "hey will explore several types of forces that can cause movement. "hey will loo at forces that cause objects to speed up, slow down, or change direction through contact or through interaction at a distance. "he grade %$s will also be learning about forces in nature, such as high wind or water, that can have a significant impact on humans and the environment.

Social Studies:

Please note that the )ctober *ewsletter contained a mista e. I stated we would be wor ing on mapping s ills. Please note that we have not yet begun wor ing on this unit. "his will soon follow.

Visual Arts:

In +isual ,rts, we will be creating and presenting visual art responses to communicate feelings, ideas, and understanding of stories.

Health:
In -ealth, students will be learning how to stand up for themselves and how to relate to others.
