Sri Vishnvashtakam Yama - Brahma Puranam

This following is a rare prayer on Lord Narayana by Lord Yama appearing in Sri Brahma Puranam, Chatper 45. In this chapter, Lord Narayana explains the greatness of Purushottama Kshetra (Puri Jagannath, as is known today) that there is no place in three worlds that is equivalent to Purushottama Kshetra and those who have darshan of Lord Purushottama (made of Indranil Blue Sapphire) at the root of Banyan Tree get emancipated and reach Vaikuntha. Seeing this Lord Yama prays with the following prayer and submits that he is not able to perform his duty as people reach Vaikuntha directly. Acceding to this request, Lord Narayana grants that he will make it such that only those qualified will be able to have darshan of Lord Purshottama and not ordinary people.
