Honors Humanities 9 Honors Seminar Research, study, and write a paper that compares two religions in Africa. Based on Chinua Achebes novel, Things Fall Apart, and also the historical content about colonialism in Africa, it is evident that religion serves as an important force that impacts cultural practices, the exchange of culture, and simply how people live. The final paper will be a comparative essay that explains some similarities between two religions, one major world religion and the indigenous African religions. Content Expectations: 1. Study and understand the main qualities of Traditional/Indigenous African religions. (Basic information is provided on the reading from Exploring Africa, which is the source for the traditional/indigenous religions in Africa.) 2. Compare the content provided in the Traditional/Indigenous African Religions reading with one other religion in Africa 3. Research and identify at least 3 credible sources that provide useful information about the selected religion, how it is practiced in Africa or in a specific country 4. Include at least 2 Elements of Religion, which include: 1. Ideas about a Supreme Being (God) or powers (or spirits) 2. Beliefs (ideas about spirits, the dead, sacrifice, protection, etc.) 3. Rituals, Practices, and Actions (rites, styles of worship, ceremonies) 4. Religious People or Leaders 5. Sacred Places or Places of Worship (shrines, churches, etc.) 6. Worship Styles and/or Practices 3.
