In September 2006 PLD Consulting Pty Ltd was engaged by Ergon Energy to design a Overhead Transmission Line from Korenan to Granite Creek and then to Agnes Water located approximately 100km North of Bundaburg. The project involved Survey and design of 2km of Single Circuit 132kV, 39km of Single Circuit 66kV and 6km of Double Circuit 66kV Overhead Transmission Lines to provide supply reinforcement between the Korenan, Granite Creek and Agnes Water substations. The scope of the works included centerline profile survey, line layout design and design of all structures, stays, foundations and earthing. The specification called for cyclonic wind loads with long return periods requiring development of pole structures to withstand tortional loads from broken conductor while avoiding failure of the poles.
