Score 4.0 In addition to Score 3.0, in-depth inferences and applications that go beyond what was taught. The student will create situations in which they need to use congruent and similar triangles. Score 3.0 Students will understand congruence and similarity and be able to apply it to triangles.
Performs complex skills:

*Apply the inequality theorems to determine relationships about sides and angles within a triangle and between triangles. Use congruence criteria for triangles to solve problems. Use similarity criteria for triangles to solve problems. Prove relationships in geometric figures. Find lengths of measures of sides and angles of congruent and similar triangles. Solve problems in context involving sides or angles of congruent triangles and similar triangles. Use the properties of similarity transformations to establish the AA criterion for two triangles to be similar. Given two figures, use the definition of similarity in terms of similarity transformations to decide if they are similar. Explain using similarity transformations the meaning of similarity for triangles as the equality of all corresponding pairs of angles and the proportionality of all corresponding pairs of sides. Prove that a line constructed parallel to one side of a triangle intersecting the other two sides of the triangle divides the intersected sides proportionally. Prove that a line that divides two sides of a triangle proportionally is parallel to the third side. Prove that if three sides of one triangle are proportional to the corresponding sides of another triangle, the triangles are similar. Given two figures, use the definition of congruence in terms of rigid motions to decide if they are congruent. Use the definition of congruence in terms of rigid motions to show that two triangles are congruent if and only if corresponding pairs of sides and corresponding pairs of angles are congruent. Explain how the criteria for triangle congruence (ASA, SAS, and SSS) follow from the definition of congruence. *Use properties of congruent and/or similar polygons to solve problems. *Apply triangle congruence and CPCTC (corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent) to determine measurements of angles or lengths.
