Dear Principal, Thank you for agreeing to meet with, Ms Anita Ellison, one of our Master of Teaching (Primary)

Preservice Teachers, with a view to considering a teaching placement in your school. At Swinburne Online we are leading the way in meeting new national teaching standards aimed at boosting the quality of graduate teachers. The Master of Teaching (Primary) is a new program, developed by Swinburne University of Technology and delivered by Swinburne Online. The course is one of the first in Australia to be accredited under the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leaderships (AITSL) Standards. The course addresses the far -reaching reforms of the Australian Federal Government including: closing the gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students; improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students; embracing the Australian Curriculum; supporting the Digital Education Revolution; whilst promoting the demand for excellence in the profession of teaching and school leadership.

Professional Experience is an integral part of the Master of Teaching (Primary) program. Through experiencing the roles and responsibilities of a teacher, Pre-service Teachers will have the opportunity to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become a competent member of the teaching profession. The Master of Teaching incorporates 80 days of Professional Experience. Pre-service Teachers undertake three supervised practicums of 20 days over three separate Teaching Periods, followed by a 20 day internship. They will complete their Professional Experience in a different school for each placement, with the exception of the final professional internship. They are also encouraged to teach at different year levels. Pre-service Teachers may complete their practicum in Government, Catholic or Independent schools. They cannot complete a practicum placement in an education setting where family members or close friends are employed by or attend the setting. Before Pre-service Teachers can undertake a Professional Experience in a school, they must have: Completed the content of the associated Professional Practice Unit(s); Completed the content of any pre-requisite units; Completed mandatory child safety screening checks as each State or Territory requires.

We sincerely hope you will consider supporting our student in your school on their Professional Experience. I am very keen to support both the student and you as a school. If you have any further questions or enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me Yours sincerely,
