Discussion Model In the lesson plans chosen, the Discussion Model was followed.

The first lesson is based on discussing the different characteristics of a fictional novel they chose to read in class. The second lesson is constructed on discussing events occurred in the Civil War. Each lesson presented a topic to the class to discuss and create ideas about. The students had to identify the topic and were specified with certain goals of the assignment. The students then developed knowledge of the topics throughout the lesson, which follows the third step of planning. They had a structured plan to follow in order to complete the lesson. The model was implemented correctly by presenting the topic of the lesson. The students used their research and exploration skills to learn the information presented and they used the closure period to discuss the main points of their ideas. In the first lesson plan, the students were instructed to create an artistic representation of the novel. The students then had to participate in a whole-class discussion to discuss the characters, plot, and other features of the fictional novel. For closure and assessment, the class had to write an essay on the topic related to their novel. This specific lesson plan followed the model with high strengths. The only weakness that can be thought of is the amount of group discussion. Each step was completed along with assessment. As for the Civil War lesson, the lesson plan followed the model but was not as precise as the other lesson plan. There were clear cut steps in the previous lesson plan, whereas this plan has less detailed steps. The planning and implementation of the model was followed. The students were provided with a power point and had to create a timeline to guide their discussion. Questions were provided for the groups to discuss. Group discussion was a strength for this lesson. I would have added more detail to the steps in this lesson plan to clearly represent the lesson like the previous lesson plan provided for this model.
