Jigsaw Model In the two lesson plans chosen, they each follow the Jigsaw Model.

The first lesson is for a Language Arts course that instructs the students to participate in a character study. The second lesson plan is designated for an Art class. The students are instructed to learn about the different artists and their styles. Each of the lessons follows the model with high strengths. The first lesson, the teacher reads aloud a folk tale to the students. She wants them to look for the characteristics of the characters, setting, and plot. She then divides the students up into groups and designates a tale for each group to read. The groups are reading different stories. Each person in the group is designated to become an expert on a certain part of the tail. They look deep into the text and find in depth information to share with the students. After the groups have completed reading and gathering information about the portion they were assigned to, they present the information to the students. This follows the model well because students are designated to certain portions of the tale and create an in depth information base of the material to present to the class. They are assigned to become experts, gather information, discuss their findings within the group, present the information, and review what they have found. The second lesson plan focuses on students learning the different Canadian artists and their styles they used. The students are broken up into groups identified by colors and their experts were identified by numbers. They were given graphic organizers to organize the information they gathered. They discussed their findings within their home group before they broke off into the groups for experts to teach the material.. This really displays the Jigsaw model because the experts gather the information, discuss it within their home groups, and then teach other students they information they have learned. I like how this lesson plan is implemented because it has detailed steps of the lesson and it follows the steps just like the steps listed in the text book.
