Portfolio 3 Community Resources

INTASC Standard 10: The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support students learning and well-being.

In order to be a highly effective teacher it is important to be acquainted with the various types of community resources that are available to assist the students in his or her class. Teachers should have information on numerous community resources and have them readily accessible for any parents or students in need of assistance. Teachers should be willing to contact the appropriate agency on behalf of his or her students and families. This supports INTASC standard #10 with fostering relationships in the community on behalf of the student in order to support the students learning and well-being in the classroom.
