-Open Ended Phase: record information gathered by comparing data and research and observations of patterns -Casual Phase: students present the relationships they discovered in the previous phase -Hypothetical phase: students are asked questions to create a deeper understanding think about applying it to new situations -Closure and Application: students form broad relationships and apply the understandings to situations
-Assessment of understanding how to use organized bodies of knowledge -Test students on the content taught to see if they grasped a deeper understanding -Students can be asked to write short answers on test to show their knowledge rather than multiple choice testing
-The challenge itself of using critical thinking skills to grasp a deeper understanding of the content can motivate the students to learn and get the right answer due to the curiosity of the unknown -Cooperation of the students can motivate them to retrieve the right answer when observing data that has been collected
This model is a good tool to use when learning how to create relationships among concepts as well as using organized bodies of knowledge.
